Can you meet people from the expasnion Pack "The Wrath of the Lich King" from the orginal World of Warcraft?

I was just wondering because I don't feel like buying two games just talk to friends from the Lich King (I have trial version right now) Also what does the expansion pack offer? And do you need the World of Warcraft orginal game to play the expansion pack "The Wrath of the Lich King"

Thank you.

You have to have the original to play the expansion. If you want to talk to friends on WOTLK you just need the original WoW

Yes you can talk to anyone you want (although trial accounts are limited to only being able to whisper to friends, talk outloud and in party chat).

You do need a normal WoW account to play WotLK. WotLK raises the level cap from 70 to 80. You will need the expansion pack "The Burning Crusade" to get from 60 to 70 though.

    Short Answer: Yes.

The trial account is limited in communication. However, having a paid account without the expansion your only limit will be your inability to venture to Northrend. This does not keep them from coming to the old world and meeting you, in fact, this is necessary to use the Auction House feature of the game. This applies to both expansions.

The expansions each offer a new continent worth of content and 10 more character levels. The original game and the subsequent expansions all come with Activation codes that give your account access to those products. Technically you only need to purchase the activation codes and you can download the game files from the internet through the Blizzard installer.

To play wrath of the lich king you need the burning crusade and the orginal. You can still talk to your friends but if they're in an area that came with one of the expansions you can't SEE them. But no matter what you can talk.

Step One: You have to install the original World of Warcraft game before any of the expansion packs, and then you can talk to anyone in-game, as long as they are in your realm.

Step Two: The first expansion pack is the Burning Crusade, it raises the level cap to 70 and basically adds new regions (the Outlands) to the game.

Step Three: The final and most current expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King, raises the level cap to 80 and introduces the continent of Northrend, which includes additional regions and playing zones.

You can buy the original WoW game for about $20 at Best Buy. Also if you want BC and Wotlk I would recommend getting the Battle Chest at Best Buy, which is $40 for both expansion packs – great deal.

To make a long answer short, no you don't have to buy any expansion packs to talk to your friends. Once you download/install the original WoW game, you can talk to any of your friends regardless of what expansion packs they have, as long as you choose the same realm they are in. Players on different realms cannot interact at all.
