Need book suggestions for teen boy : Something like World Of Warcraft?

My son LOVES World of Warcraft…with mages, spells, battles, sword fights..the whole thing.

Can anyone suggest a book for him to read this summer? Something that starts out exciting..not four chapters in to be interesting :)

I’m thinking a few books but the first that comes to mind is Eragorn. He might not jump at it though as it was made into a fairly lame movie. It’s about a boy who discovers a dragon egg and raises the dragon. There’s elves, magic, shades, spells, battles etc.

The other I think of is the Riftwar Saga by Raymond Feist. It is actually a much better work than Eragorn but also must more adult. Again it’s about a human in a world of magic, elves, dwarves, battles, aliens, sword fights etc. It’s an epic long saga however the first book is the best, would definitely recommend that.

Another fantastic one is Lord of the Rings. Sure you know what that’s about though.

How old is your son and what’s his reading level? If he’s a bit younger or not a great reader I’d recommend Deltora Quest by Emily Rodda. He probably won’t enjoy it if he’s over the age of fourteen though.

There are actually books based on the World of Warcraft series as well as on Warhammer 40,000 (or 40K) that would fill that need.

I also really liked Ender’s Game.
