If your a Hunter, then you get 1 after a quest at lvl 10. Otherwise you can buy a mount (rideable Pets) at lvl 40 but they cost a lot.
Hope it helps.

You get the ability to tame pets at level 10, after a short series of easy quests.
(And in response to the guy who posted before me, you can now get mounts at level 30 for about 35g training, and 9g for the mount itself, though that's unrelated to the actual question here.)

For the hunter class level 10 . You can buy at pet vendors, like snakes, birds, etc at any level you just need silver.

Depends on your class. If your a hunter, a quest at lvl 10 gets you your pet. If your a warlock, a quest that you can get at lvl 1 gets you your first pet. If you are a mage, with all your talent points in the frost tree, you have to be level 45 to get a water elemental pet. All classes get rideable mounts at lvl 30, but they have a decent price tag. (it used to be over twice as much) All classes and levels can get non combt pets, which are probably the most useless things in the game. All they do is follow you and look cute.

If you’re a hunter it’s level 10 and you don’t buy pets. You tame them. As for where to get the quest and skill it depends on your race.

If you wanna a pet to ride on then you have to buy one at level 40,but if your a Hunter at level 10 you get one but you don’t ride on it it stays with you when ever you need him
Good luck.

Hey ,
Well its easy all you do is get to lvl 10 and learn the skill that allows you to tame a pet
But only WARLOCKS and HUNTERS can have pets
the skill that allows you 2 tame a pet as a hunter is called ” tame pet ” lol
you obtain this skill by completing a quest at lvl 10
But hunters can only tame pets under the hunters lvl and it must be a BEAST not a demon an so on
for warlocks all you have to do is at lvl 4 go to your warlock trainer and you learn a skill that allows you to summon a imp ” a small goblin that uses magic ”
at higher lvls warlocks can summon 5 different minions ( pet ) but only 1 at a time u can summon all of them 2 fight only 1

Ok so there is TWO types of pets!
A HUNTER PET and a NON-COMBAT PET.
Hunter pets are animals you tame yourself, and you can do this at level ten through the hunter quest (You'll find it easily).
Non-Combat Pets can be obtained at any level. Some of these pets are 'drops' (dropping from a mob), some are sold by vendors, and you can usually find some on the auction houses too.
Other than that you might come across things such as 'rideable mounts' (land and flying)
Land: Level 30
Faster Land: 60
Flyer: 70
Faster Flyer: 70
You may also find Warlocks with pets. They get different pets at different levels. And a Frost Mage will also end up having a water elemental pet. These pets are combat pets.

Hunter’s get a quest to have a combat pet at level 10.
Warlocks get their first combat pet at level 2, also from a quest.
Mages can have a temporary Water Elemental pet if they spec for it with their talent points.
Priests can have a temporary Shadow Fiend pet to help them regain mana.
Non-combat pets can be purchased from NPC (Non Player Controlled) characters as early as level 1. These pets are just for looks, and just for fun.
