You should go to curse.com and click at the top where it says "WoW Add Ons" and download a couple of add-ons to get you started, such as cartographer and questhelper. They should be on the left where it says "Most Downloaded". They pretty much help direct you to where you need to go for quests and shows in more detail where things are on the map. I installed the 10-day trial 6 seperate times (uninstalled each time when the trial ran out) and tried out different classes and races to see what I liked. Only then did I actually buy into the game.
