At the Battle of Mount Hyjal, Archimonde finally reaches his goal and begins to destroy the World Tree. The combined might of the Night Elves, Humans and Orcs succeeded in only delaying his approach. However, that is all they needed to do to give time for the druid Malfurion to awaken the wisps to defend the homeland!

The world tree (Nordrassil in Darnassian) is a tree atop mount hyjal that absorbed part of the power of the second well of eternity, created under its roots by illidan (by pouring 3 vials of water from the first well of eternity into a small lake under the tree). nordrassil was blessed by i think 3 people, one was the dragon who watches over the emerald dream and i forget the others. as long as the tree survives the night elves are immortal. im not very good with lore so sorry if im wrong

Kil’jeadon, was -not- a higher rank than Archimonde. Kil’jaedon and Archimonde were Saragres’s Lieutenant’s. But their job’s were specifically different.
Archimonde: Lead the Battles. That’s why he appeared in both the War of the Ancient’s and the Battle of Mt. Hyjal.
Kil’jaedon: Recruit races. That’s why he recruited and made many creatures, one of them being Ner’zhul and the Orcs. And later on create the Scourge.
