WoW – Is engineering useful for a mage?

I’m a level 18 gnome mage and I’m a level 128 in engineering, but at the moment, I haven’t made anything useful or saleable; should I do something else?
- I chose engineering because gnomes are good at it and several wikis said that mages can benefit from certain items.

Professions will not make or break the leveling portion of the game, so pick any the ones you want and go to town. Engineering is mainly bombs, guns, bullets, and other random items that are (for the most part) just for fun. As a Mage, you will find very little use from the items and Engineer can make.

I do recommend Tailoring for mages as you can make your own gear as you level.

   Personally, I would have gone for JC as they have profession only jewels and buffs that are very useful at high levels.

   However, keep with Engineering, and you will one day be able to make a Mechanohog. There is nothing better than Mechanohog.

   wow that’s pretty stupid going all that way without realising what engineering is its MECHANICS and AMMO not useful for you what so ever

   For a mage the best thing would be to really go tailoring, enchanting, or alch. Because in the long run there really isn’t anything useful for mages in Engineering buisness. If you were making a hunter or a warrior than Eng would be the right chioce to go with.

   And as Jake said you can eventually make a chopper, but you don’t have to be an engineer to ride it. Or buy the mats for it
